new anime to watch!
heh...
finally finished Stellvia of the Universe. i must admit, this is the first time since i watched Chrno Crusade that i've bought an anime that's worth watching. gawd... eventhough there have been mixed reactions and criticisms from the audience when this anime came out, there is only one thing i could say.
stellvia is simply a grade-A anime. personally, at least.
it isn't as spectacular as other space-based series like Gundam, or thoroughly researched as in Evangelion, but the way it treats its characters and their relationships with each other is top-notch, they come out as alive as any person you'll meet in a school. stellvia is primarily the story of a student, Katase Shima and her circle of friends, who start out as mediocre students in Stellvia's space piloting academy (especially Shima, who was exceptionally good at programming but really sucks at piloting). it was like the existence of the Foundations--six orbiting Homeworld-Mothership-style space vessels of which Stellvia is the second--to halt the Second Wave that will destroy the Earth is secondary compared to the anime's treatment of the characters. and i love it, though it becomes emotional in some parts.
the mechanical designs are cool too, excepting the mechas (Infinity and Halcyon), who look like robots made from Lego. eheheheh... their spacecraft, the Keittys and Biancas, remind me of interceptors from Homeworld and the Dreads from Vandread. yup, complete with the gravitic thruster trails...
and the Foundations themselves look like Homeworld 2's Hiigaran Motherships. i hope this isn't some H2 rip-off, since i love this series much.
oh well. got two new anime to watch. i lent my stellvia series to Yokai in exchange for two: Love Hina and Onegai Teacher. pretty ecchi, if you ask me... and, oh, the last remaining CDs for my incomplete set of Full Metal Alchemist. i've contacted Aoi and Chan so they could burn me their six episodes of Gundam Seed Destiny. can't wait to see Blade Impulse in action!!!
anyway, that's about it guys. i wasn't able to play Initial D Ver. 3 at the arcade. so many freakin' people were playing straight from 12-4pm. damn...!
/sob
maybe i should watch Love Hina now. Yuki out.
